The most common expressions of love over valentines day are in the form of red roses and dainty gifts which are nice, but if you ask me the best way to celebrate valentines is over good food. Why you may ask? Food experiences can fall under all the love language categories – think about it! Meaning, regardless of the person, having a nice meal over valentines day is a full proof method to make that special person happy.
Below is a list of dining experiences i recommend this valentines.
This place has been around for ages but funny enough not many people seem to know about it. It’s a little quaint Italian restaurant located behind the Valley Arcade Shopping Centre. La Salumeria has great Italian food and lovely ambience. If you’re looking for a candlelit romantic dinner, this a a good choice and their tiramisu is to die for!
Momo Loves Kitchen – Sanctuary Farm
If you’re curious what Tibetian cuisine is all about or want to try something new, I recommend you attend the set dinner hosted my Momos Kitchen by the shores of Lake Naivsha. I know for many of you this is a bit of a stretch, but if you can make it, the food is worth the trip.
Jasmine Macharia also known as @cookingwithjaz on Instagram recently launched group cooking classes. She has a special cooking class for couples over valentines day which sounds like an interactive and fun date night option. Contact her via Instagram and make a booking.
Cook at Home
This for me would be the best valentine plan because its personal, and would be a true labour of love. Its also a great option if you are on a budget but still want to impress your loved one.
Below is a list of simple recipes that i think are valentines worthy.
- Roast Chicken with roast potatoes and a salad
- Thyme beer marinated chicken with rice
- Butternut Stuffed With Beef Mince – top this with cheese to take it to the next level
- Pan Fried Fish in Lemon Butter Sauce
- Spaghetti Bolognese
Hope you get to try one of the recommendations above and if you do please tag me by using the hashtag #afceats on Instagram.
